REST-COAST at Coastal Dynamics 2025

REST-COAST was presented at Coastal Dynamics 2025, held from 7–11 April 2025 at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. The conference brought together international researchers and practitioners working on coastal processes, resilience and adaptation under the theme “Living with a Dynamic Coast”.

As part of the programme, Robert Nicholls (UEA) contributed to the short course “Coastal Restoration Under Sea Level Rise” with the presentation “Sea-Level Rise & Coastal Implications”, focusing on challenges and adaptation pathways for coastal systems under rising sea levels.

REST-COAST research was also presented through several scientific contributions by project partners. The study “River flow management as a tool to mitigate salt intrusion and enhance estuarine sediment transfer. The Ebro river case (NW Med Sea)” by Manel Grifoll, Jørgen Berntsen, Alan Cuthbertson, Julia Calvillo, Vicente Gràcia and Agustín Sánchez-Arcilla (UPC) explored river flow management approaches supporting estuarine restoration and sediment dynamics.

In addition, the contribution “Recent dynamics of the mouth bar in Ebro river (NW Mediterranean Sea)” by Julia Calvillo, Manel Grifoll and Vicente Gràcia (UPC) examined recent morphological changes and sediment processes in the Ebro Delta coastal system.
