On 15 October 2024, REST-COAST participated in a large-scale event dedicated to the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”, held at the Burgas Free University in Burgas, Bulgaria.
Organised by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, together with Burgas Free University, the Municipality of Burgas, and the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water, the programme focused on the Black Sea region, including discussions on pollution from nutrients, chemicals, litter and physical alteration from watershed to sea.
During the session “From the Danube source to Black Sea – Healthy Waters and healthy life”, Nikolay Valchev presented REST-COAST alongside representatives of several European initiatives and partnerships working on water resilience, marine ecosystems and regional cooperation.
The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration, integrated water management and research-driven approaches to support healthier and more resilient aquatic environments.
