Blog article highlights the global potential of REST-COAST restoration approaches

A blog article titled “Scalable Pathways for Coastal Restoration: Lessons from RestCoast and Beyond” by Emma Mayhew, Daniel Flores, and Annabel Nyole was published on 8 August 2025.

The blog examined how nature-based coastal restoration can contribute to climate resilience, biodiversity recovery, and sustainable development in vulnerable coastal regions worldwide. Drawing on experiences from REST-COAST and the involvement of the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), the article discussed opportunities for adapting restoration approaches to lower-resource and high-risk settings in Africa and Asia.

The publication highlighted REST-COAST’s work across its European pilot sites, including ecosystem restoration, climate-risk modelling, sustainable finance, and stakeholder engagement activities. It also reflected on lessons learned regarding governance, investment readiness, locally led adaptation, and the importance of scaling restoration through place-based and participatory approaches.
