Coastal Challenge was showcased at a workshop for Master’s students from the University of Oldenburg

REST-COAST’s project partner, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, organised a workshop for Master’s students from the University of Oldenburg during the first week of March 2026, introducing them to different aspects of the research carried out at Hereon.

As part of the programme, participants had the opportunity to explore ‘Coastal Challenge’, the serious video game developed within the REST-COAST project, to support climate adaptation decision-making in coastal areas.

The interactive session allowed participants to step into the role of coastal decision-makers and navigate real-world challenges related to coastal erosion, ecosystem restoration, and climate adaptation.

Using a game-based approach provided an engaging way to discuss nature-based solutions and coastal restoration strategies, while also showcasing the project’s research results in a more accessible and interactive format.
