The future of sustainable land use across ecosystems, landscapes and biomes: REST-COAST at the 53rd GfÖ

24 September 2024

The 53rd Annual Conference of the German Ecological Society (GfÖ) took place between 9-13 September 2024 in Freising, Germany. As the topic of the conference changes each year, this time around scientists and practitioners gather to discuss “The future of sustainable land use across ecosystems, landscapes and biomes”.

Within the scope of five days, more than 700 participants, amongst whom professionals dealing with ecology, biodiversity, and environmental pollution, as well as early career researchers and students, exchanged knowledge to advance the ecological understanding and how can it contribute to enhancing innovative land use and management strategies.

Throughout the conference, the REST-COAST project was presented with an exhibition stand, which was shared with the projects SpongeBoost and SELINA. Focused on restoring essential coastal areas across Europe and beyond, the project strives to provide the needed sustainable tools to address the challenges of environmental degradation.

The exhibition stand provided a wide range of materials for each of the three projects, specifically highlighting REST-COAST through its nine Pilot Case factsheets, brochures, stickers and a roll-up. Participants were welcomed by the project’s communication and dissemination leaders from Pensoft, who provided further information about the goals and ambitions of REST-COAST and exchanged valuable knowledge.
