The newly-published research article “Co-developing business plans for upscaled coastal Nature-Based Solutions restoration: An application to the Venice Lagoon (Italy)” is available in the sustainability journal.
Developed by the REST-COAST team of CMCC, CORILA, Albirem and Pernice Collaborative, the article provides a new take on the co-development of business modelling innovation tools in the context of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) and coastal restoration upscaling through multi-stakeholder engagement. This process combines business management consulting skills with a holistic knowledge of ecosystem services provisioning through NbS restoration projects, from a multidisciplinary scientific perspective, as well as an executive approach.
Tested and validated in a saltmarsh restoration project coordinated by public agencies in the Venice Lagoon, the method allowed the development of an advanced business model canvas, carefully assessed through a stakeholder questionnaire and a related business case centred on ecotourism complemented by a willingness-to-pay analysis.
