A recently shot video, showing one of the construction details of artificial island in Vistula Lagoon, one of the nine REST-COAST Pilot Sites, is now available.
The footage highlights the discharge facilities for water drained from the island back to the lagoon. It is drained through a sedimentation chamber, where the water level is somewhat lower than that in the main island pool. Still, one can see some spill of very fine muddy sediment in direct proximity of the outlet - this demonstrates one of the main difficulties related to the maintenance of acceptable water turbidity during infilling of the island.
