Newly published report highlights how EU Green Deal projects can support Nature Restoration implementation

29 May 2025

After the high-level Green Deal workshop held in Brussels on 10 March 2025, the European Research Executive Agency (REA) has released a report summarising the key outcomes of the event. The report highlights major takeaways, best practices, and next steps for supporting the implementation of the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR).

Co-organised by REA and DG RTD, the workshop brought together four major EU-funded Green Deal projects, REST-COAST, MERLIN, SUPERB, and WaterLANDS, to explore how their insights and results can help shape effective National Restoration Plans (NRPs). The event served as a valuable platform for discussion and collaboration, drawing participants from Member States, the European Commission, and other key stakeholders.

The report offers a concise summary of the workshop outcomes and showcases a range of evidence-based recommendations and scalable practices emerging from the four projects. These insights are intended to support national authorities as they prepare their National Restoration Plans, which are due by September 2026.
