REST-COAST at Biennale della Sostenibilità 2025
On 17 November 2025, Prof. Agustín Sánchez-Arcilla presented the conference lecture “Coastal adaptation for climate resilience” during the international event Coastal Cities, Climate Resilience and Cultural Heritage Preservation, held in Venice, Italy.
The event, organised by the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), brought together experts, researchers, public authorities, and stakeholders to discuss adaptation strategies for coastal cities facing increasing climate-related risks and sea level rise.
The presentation highlighted approaches developed through REST-COAST and related initiatives, focusing on knowledge-based decision-making, adaptation-through-restoration strategies, and coordinated science for resilient coastal management. It also explored how nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration can support climate resilience while protecting coastal communities and cultural heritage.
