REST-COAST featured on the UN Ecosystem Restoration Hub
REST-COAST has been officially featured on the UN Ecosystem Restoration Hub as one of the highlighted ecosystem restoration initiatives in Europe.
Supported by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as an implementing organisation, the Large Scale Coastal Restoration in Europe (REST-COAST) initiative highlights the project’s work in developing an urgently needed new approach to climate adaptation and mitigation by upscaling coastal restoration.
Bringing together 35+ partners across Europe and West Asia, REST-COAST promotes large-scale coastal restoration while supporting biodiversity, reducing disaster risk, strengthening ecosystem services, and addressing urgent challenges such as erosion, storm flooding, and accelerating habitat degradation.
With the project officially concluding at the end of May 2026, the inclusion on the UN Ecosystem Restoration Hub serves as a strong recognition of REST-COAST’s achievements and impact, while expanding the project’s international visibility through the United Nations platform.
The feature presents the project’s achieved results and approach to large-scale coastal restoration, creating a valuable legacy resource for future restoration initiatives and stakeholders worldwide. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of the consortium and everyone who contributed to and supported the process.
