REST-COAST at the Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026
REST-COAST-related research and coastal resilience approaches were presented at the Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026 (OSM26), held from 22 to 27 February 2026 in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The biennial conference brought together the international ocean science community to exchange knowledge on marine research, climate resilience, monitoring technologies, and coastal adaptation.
Several presentations and special sessions highlighted work connected to coastal hazard forecasting, restoration, and climate adaptation. Contributions included the presentations “Data-Driven Morphodynamic Forecasting of Semi-Urban Pocket Beaches: Enhancing Coastal Resilience with Machine Learning for the coast near Bilbao Port” and “Coastal Hazard Forecasting Under Uncertainty: A Multi-Scenario Ensemble Approach for Barcelona (NW Mediterranean)”.
REST-COAST representatives also contributed to dedicated sessions on “Early/Climate Warning Systems for Coastal Risk Reduction and Proposal for Wider Uptake” and “Harbour-beach interactions under multiple stressors: aggregating simulations and observations to assess synergies and trade-offs”.
The discussions explored forecasting approaches, modelling tools, and science-based strategies supporting coastal resilience and adaptation under climate change.
Participation in OSM26 provided an opportunity to share project experiences with the wider ocean science community and strengthen collaboration on innovative approaches for sustainable coastal management and climate resilience.
