SER Europe hosts a REST-COAST webinar on coastal restoration

15 August 2025

On 13 August 2025, the webinar “Coastal restoration plans to overcome barriers: Application to three European cases”, organised by SER Europe as part of the REST-COAST project, was successfully held and drew 141 participants from 45 different countries.

The event received positive feedback, with participants highly engaged in the presentations on European case studies from the Venice Lagoon, Arcachon Bay, and the Ebro Delta. Umberto Pernice from Pernice Collaborative outlined restoration activities in the Venice Lagoon that apply nature-based solutions (NBS) supported by co-developed business plans for sustainable upscaling.

Julian Dalle from Seaboost highlighted collaborative governance approaches in Arcachon Bay to strengthen local capacity for large-scale restoration, while Xavier Sánchez-Artus from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia shared insights from the Ebro Delta on the role of embryonic dunes in enhancing resilience in a subsiding, erosion-prone delta.

The webinar showcased the value of nature-based solutions, innovative planning, and cross-sector collaboration in advancing coastal resilience across Europe.

The recording from the online session will be made available on the SER Europe online Webinar Library.
